Character: the entry-level motorcycle for the youngest riders
The CRF50F is an off-road motorcycle for children, built for a first experience of motorcycling. The forgiving four-stroke engine and the semi-automatic gearbox give the child time to concentrate on the right riding position, using the throttle and braking.
This way, children quickly gain confidence and soon get to know the controls. As a guideline, the age range is around 4 to 8 years.
Controls: semi-automatic without a clutch lever
The CRF50F has a three-speed gearbox with a centrifugal clutch. Gears are changed by foot, and there is no clutch lever. The child therefore operates the throttle, brakes and gear lever without having to use a clutch.
An adjustable throttle limiter allows the power to be matched to the child's ability. A key ignition switch is designed to prevent unauthorised use of the motorcycle.
Engine, chassis and dimensions
The air-cooled 49 cc four-stroke engine with an overhead camshaft (SOHC) uses a CDI ignition that needs no maintenance. An upside-down fork provides the front suspension, the wheels measure 10 inches, and drum brakes are fitted front and rear.
The seat height is 548 mm and the kerb weight 50 kg. There is also a padded handlebar, foam grips, smaller levers and folding footpegs with tread. The wheels run on pressure-cast aluminium hubs with 28 spokes, and drive is via a 420 chain.
Who is the Honda CRF50F right for?
The CRF50F suits children riding a motorcycle for the first time. As they grow, the CRF110F follows, also semi-automatic; children then learn to use the clutch on the CRF125F with its manual gearbox. A helmet and protective clothing in the right size are always part of the equipment.
Besides age, take your child's size, ability and maturity into account. Sitting on the motorcycle quickly shows whether it fits.

Frequently asked questions about the Honda CRF50F
What age is the Honda CRF50F suitable for?
The CRF50F is meant for children aged around 4 and up, with around 8 years as a guideline upper limit. The child's height and riding ability are also decisive.
Does your child have to use a clutch on the CRF50F?
No. The CRF50F has a centrifugal clutch and no clutch lever. The three gears are changed with the foot, so the child can concentrate on throttle and brake.
Can the power of the Honda CRF50F be limited?
Yes. An adjustable throttle limiter regulates the power delivery. This allows the motorcycle to be adapted to the child's ability and the power to be released step by step later on.
Is the CRF50F approved for the road?
No. The CRF50F is an off-road motorcycle for children and is not built for road traffic. It is ridden on suitable closed-off grounds.
