A kids motorcycle has to match your child's size, age and ability. With the CRF50F, CRF110F, CRF125F and CRF150R, Honda offers a range that accompanies children step by step from their first twist of the throttle to competition. All four are off-road motorcycles for children and young people.

Kids' motorcycles are smaller, lighter and more forgiving than models for adults. The entry models CRF50F and CRF110F have a centrifugal clutch: your child only operates the throttle and brake and can concentrate fully on the correct posture. The clutch only comes later.
All models in the range have a four-stroke engine. They are ridden on motocross tracks or closed-off practice areas, ideally under instruction. Anyone who adopts a good riding position right from the start will not have to laboriously unlearn a bad posture later.
Forgiving engines quickly give children confidence. This allows them to concentrate on riding position and controls and learn them quickly, instead of struggling with a motorcycle that is too powerful.
The age details are guidelines; body size and experience are decisive. The CRF50F suits children from around 4 to about 8 years. According to Honda, the CRF110F is intended for 8- to 11-year-olds. The CRF125F is suitable from around 9 to 10 years, the CRF150R for young people from around 11 to 12 years.
A proven route leads from the CRF50F via the CRF110F to the CRF125F, on which your child learns to use the clutch, and on to the CRF150R. Honda explicitly describes the CRF110F as a stepping stone to the competition-oriented models with 125 and 150 cc.
The CRF50F is the smallest model in the range. Its four-stroke engine and centrifugal clutch make it forgiving, and an adjusting screw on the throttle grip allows the power to be limited – so it grows with your child's ability. The CRF110F (109 cc) conveys the feel of a big motorcycle, with a robust chassis, electric starter and reliable four-stroke engine.
The CRF125F is the entry model with clutch and manual gearbox. Thanks to a lot of rotating mass in the engine, it is very forgiving, and the electric starter makes starting easier. The CRF150R is a competition motorcycle for young people: little rotating mass, lots of power and very direct throttle response. It has an upside-down fork and requires advanced skills.
Protective gear includes a helmet, goggles, boots, gloves and chest and back protectors. In the MX-Academy courses, this gear is already part of the taster course and the complete packages, so you do not need to buy anything to get started.
With a kids' motorcycle, size is more important than age. Your child should be able to reach the ground securely when stationary and hold the handlebars loosely. Once they outgrow it, it is time for the next size up in the range.
Before you buy a kids motorcycle, a course is worthwhile. At the MX-Academy, children from the age of 4 ride a Honda kids' rental bike, equipped with protective clothing and accompanied by trainers. This shows you whether your child enjoys it and which size fits.
Because the grounds are closed off, no licence is needed. There are dedicated motocross courses for young people and beginner courses for adults. Registration is online via the event calendar, and payment is made on site. As an official dealer, Honda Motorrad Zürich handles purchase, advice and workshop services for the kids' models.
