What defines a motor scooter

Scooters or motor scooters have a flat floor or step-through, a protected seating position behind the fairing and usually storage space under the seat. On the Forza 125, for example, a continuously variable CVT works with an automatic centrifugal clutch: you accelerate and brake, nothing more.

The large models Forza 750 and X-ADV change gear via a dual clutch transmission (DCT). According to Honda, the Forza 750 is made for town, country roads and motorways, while the X-ADV combines scooter comfort with the presence of an adventure bike.

Which scooter suits your driving licence?

With subcategory A1 you can ride the 125cc scooters Forza 125, SH125i, SH Mode 125 and PCX125 as well as the Vision 110. SH150i, SH350i, Forza 350 and ADV350 require category A restricted to 35 kW; in the EU this is called A2. Forza 750 and X-ADV are offered in a 35 kW version for this category and with full power for category A.

Besides the licence, intended use counts. For short trips in town, a light model such as the Vision 110 is enough – according to dealer data the lightest in this category. If you regularly ride cross-country or on expressways, a model from 330 cc such as the Forza 350 or SH350i will serve you better. For the electric scooters CUV e: and EM1 e:, the dealer will also advise you on the appropriate licence category.

Speeds differ too. According to dealer data, the Forza 350, ADV350 and SH350i reach between 133 and 137 km/h and the Forza 750 168 km/h, the SH150i and Forza 125 manage 108 km/h and the Vision 110 reaches 89 km/h. For commuting routes with motorway sections, this is an important criterion.

Large scooters and sport GT: Forza, X-ADV, ADV350

The Forza 750 is the GT scooter of the range: twin-cylinder with 745 cc and 43.1 kW, electrically adjustable windscreen and cruise control as standard. The X-ADV also uses 745 cc and 43.1 kW, but combines scooter and adventure bike in an SUV design.

The Forza 350 (330 cc, 21.5 kW) offers HSTC traction control, generous storage space under the seat and a 5-inch TFT with Honda RoadSync. The ADV350 (330 cc, 21.6 kW), with a robust chassis and new rear suspension, is also designed for light off-road use and has automatic indicator cancelling. The Forza 125 brings the sport GT concept with 10.7 kW to subcategory A1.

City scooters and electric scooters: SH, PCX, Vision, CUV e:, EM1 e:

The SH350i combines the flat step-through of the SH family with 21.5 kW and large 16-inch wheels. The SH150i (157 cc, 12.4 kW) is above the limit of subcategory A1. The SH125i (9.6 kW) is the family's 125cc scooter, with LED lights and TFT cockpit; the SH Mode 125 uses the same platform in a slim city format.

The PCX125 (9.2 kW) with its liquid-cooled engine is designed for low fuel consumption; the DX version has a 5-inch TFT. The Vision 110 (109 cc, 6.4 kW) is the simple entry model with a flat floor. The electric scooter CUV e: has 6 kW, more than 70 km of range and a reverse assist. The EM1 e: (1.7 kW, top speed 45 km/h) works with the Honda Mobile Power Pack.

Several models are available as a version with Smart Top Box, such as the Forza 125, Forza 350, SH125i, SH150i and SH350i.
