Character and use of the 1000 cc Hornet

With 1000 cc, 111.6 kW and a top speed of 230 km/h, the Hornet belongs to the upper class of naked bikes. The frame is a one-piece steel twin-spar frame, and the tank holds 17 litres.

The unfaired concept with its broad streetfighter stance suits winding country roads as well as sporty weekend rides. The riding modes help you call up the power in measured doses in everyday riding and in the wet.

Engine, electronics and suspension of the four-cylinder

The inline four with two overhead camshafts produces 111.6 kW and, according to Honda, delivers 104 Nm at 9000 rpm. Throttle by Wire controls the throttle valve electronically and enables the riding modes Rain, Standard and Sport.

In two user modes, engine power and engine braking can be adjusted in three levels, the HSTC traction control in four levels, and the wheelie control as well. Everything is operated via a 5-inch colour TFT display, and with Honda RoadSync you pair your smartphone, for navigation for example.

At the front there is an adjustable 41 mm upside-down fork of the Showa SFF-BP type, at the rear a shock with Pro-Link linkage. Radially mounted four-piston Nissin brake calipers grip floating discs with a diameter of 310 mm.

Variants: base version and Hornet SP

The Honda CB1000 Hornet comes in two versions from the 2025 model year: as base version and as SP. According to the list of variants, the SP produces 115 kW and therefore slightly more than the base version.

The SP also differs in suspension and brakes. At the rear there is an Öhlins TTX36 shock with automatic spring preload adjustment and fully adjustable compression and rebound damping, while Brembo Stylema calipers slow the bike at the front. For both versions you need an unrestricted category A driving licence.

Who is the Hornet 1000 for?

The model is aimed at experienced riders looking for an unfaired motorcycle with plenty of power and extensive electronics. Via the user modes, you tailor power and rider aids to your riding style.

If you place particular emphasis on the suspension, choose the SP with Öhlins shock and Brembo calipers. For starting out with a smaller licence, the smaller models of the Hornet family are intended.
