Character and use of the Africa Twin
With a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, the Africa Twin is clearly designed for off-road capability. The Showa suspension offers 230 mm of travel at the front and 220 mm at the rear, and ground clearance is 250 mm. Farm tracks, gravel passes and rough sections therefore remain easy to ride.
On the road, the taller and wider windscreen makes for a calmer ride, and it can be adjusted in five positions. The tubeless tyres have a practical advantage: a puncture on the road is easier to repair.

Engine and technology of the CRF1100L
The liquid-cooled 1084 cc twin-cylinder produces 75 kW. Honda quotes 7 % more torque in the low and mid-range, achieved through a higher compression ratio, new valve timing and a revised intake and exhaust system. Top speed is 199 km/h, and the tank holds 18.8 litres.
The electronics are based on a 6-axis IMU. It controls the cornering ABS, the seven-level HSTC traction control and the three-level wheelie control. You can choose between the riding modes URBAN, TOUR, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD, plus a USER mode that you set up yourself. Everything is operated via a 6.5-inch colour TFT touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Variants: manual gearbox or DCT
The Honda Africa Twin is available with a manual gearbox or with a six-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) that changes gear automatically. The 2025 and 2026 model years are in stock, including the colour schemes Grand Prix Red (2025) and Tricolor (2026).
If you are looking for electronically adjustable suspension and a larger tank, you will find both on the Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES. Every variant of the CRF1100L requires an unrestricted category A driving licence.
Who is the Africa Twin for?
The Africa Twin is aimed at riders with category A who want a motorcycle for everyday use, mountain passes and touring with some off-road riding. The seat height is adjustable and measures 850 mm; before buying, check whether you can stand securely at that height.
In city traffic and on long stages, the DCT takes the clutch work off your hands. The manual gearbox suits anyone who prefers to operate the clutch themselves.
