Engine and chassis of the CBR600RR
The inline four produces 89 kW at 14,250 rpm and 63 Nm at 11,500 rpm. According to Honda, intake system, valve timing and internal engine parts are geared towards racing, and a slipper clutch and a quickshifter for shifting without the clutch are included.
The chassis consists of an aluminium twin-spar frame and swingarm. At the front there is a fully adjustable Showa Big Piston upside-down fork, at the rear a Showa shock with Pro-Link, and the electronic steering damper HESD calms the steering. The front wheel is slowed by radially mounted four-piston calipers.
Electronics with 6-axis IMU
According to Honda, a Bosch 6-axis IMU records the motorcycle's movements 100 times per second. It is complemented by the HSTC traction control with nine levels, wheelie control, cornering ABS with three modes including a track setting, and engine braking with three levels.
The electronically controlled throttle enables five power modes. Honda names the RC213V-S, the road version of the RC213V MotoGP bike, as the model for electronics and aerodynamics, and a front spoiler provides more downforce. The Honda CBR600RR requires an unrestricted category A driving licence.
Who is the CBR600RR for?
The CBR600RR suits experienced riders looking for a high-revving supersport bike with precise feedback. The electronics can be adapted to road and track via power modes, traction control and ABS modes.
If you want more comfort and smartphone connectivity in everyday riding, you should consider the CBR650R with E-Clutch. For track days, the track setting of the ABS and the HRC kits speak in its favour.
