Character and design of the CBR650R
The design takes its cue from the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade. Four header pipes merge into one silencer, and the CBR tricolour sets a racing signature.
Honda emphasises the strong power delivery of the inline four across the entire rev range. With a tank capacity of 15.4 litres, longer stages on country roads are possible, and top speed is 197 km/h.

Engine, gearbox and equipment
The 16-valve DOHC inline four produces 70 kW and delivers 64 Nm of torque. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox; a slipper clutch is fitted so that the rear wheel does not lock under hard braking and downshifting.
An anti-glare coating covers the 5-inch colour TFT display, and the switches are backlit. Via Honda RoadSync you connect your Android or iOS smartphone and use navigation, calls and music.
Honda E-Clutch and variant for category A restricted
The Honda E-Clutch takes care of pulling away, changing gear and stopping. All you operate is the gear lever, and according to Honda the engine is not supposed to cut out. The E-Clutch is switched on in the TFT display, and the clutch lever can be used at any time.
For category A, the Honda CBR650R is listed with 70 kW; if you hold an A restricted licence (A2 in the EU), you will also find it as a variant limited to 35 kW. According to Honda, the power limitation can be lifted again after obtaining category A.
Who is the CBR650R for?
The CBR650R is suitable for riders looking for a sportily faired four-cylinder who do not want to do without comfort features such as E-Clutch and smartphone connectivity in everyday riding. Even in category A restricted, the variant up to 35 kW makes it possible to get started.
If you ride in a sporty way, you can choose a quickshifter in the Sport pack from Honda's motorcycle accessories, which can also be combined with the E-Clutch. If you are looking for more racetrack practice, the CBR600RR is a supersport bike with extensive racing electronics.
